He started by recommending purchasing electricity from Russia
Former Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schröder once again addressed European countries, urging them to resume purchases of cheap energy supplies from Russia to mitigate the effects of inflation and reduce tariffs. This was reported in the Berliner Zeitung.
Schröder emphasized that "this is not a barbaric country," but a state with a rich cultural heritage and history. He expressed the need for new forms of cooperation with Russia. In his opinion, the approach he supported during his chancellorship remains relevant: "These are reliable and safe supplies of inexpensive energy from Russia. Moreover, I insist on using modern German technologies to make gas exploration and supplies more environmentally friendly," he noted in his column.
Nevertheless, Schröder also condemned the invasion of Ukraine, calling it "unjustified" and accompanied by violations of international law. He stressed that "the European community must make every effort to end this war."
