During the conversation, Mirziyoyev sharply condemned the attempt to attack Putin's residence in the Novgorod region, according to an official statement. He noted that such actions threaten stability and security in the region, particularly in the context of efforts to achieve long-term peace.

Additionally, the presidents discussed issues related to strengthening the strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia, as well as the implementation of previously reached agreements.

The leaders also exchanged views on important international and regional issues and agreed on the schedule for upcoming events.

At the end of the conversation, both presidents congratulated each other on the upcoming year 2026, wishing health and well-being, as well as peace and prosperity to the peoples of both countries.

Meanwhile, Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, reported on the drone attack by Ukraine on Putin's residence in Valdai, adding that Russia would reconsider its negotiating position in light of this incident. Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, denied these claims, calling them lies, and pointed out that Russia is preparing the ground for attacks on government buildings in Kyiv. In response to Lavrov's statement, the Russian Ministry of Defense published a press release indicating the number of drones involved.

At the same time, Donald Trump, who met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the same day, informed reporters that he heard about the attack from Putin in the morning and expressed dissatisfaction, emphasizing that he had previously halted the supply of long-range "Tomahawk" missiles to Ukraine.
