The wife of the first president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, Sara Nazarbayeva, was hospitalized in the government hospital in April 2025. The press secretary of the first president, Aidos Ukibay, had previously reported on her hospitalization, while various rumors and conflicting information about her health and whereabouts circulated in the media and unofficial sources. The hospital's press service did not disclose the diagnosis or the current situation regarding Nazarbayeva, citing medical confidentiality.
“The patient was undergoing treatment in the hospital and was discharged for outpatient treatment in January. Any other information, including details about her health status, diagnosis, methods, and results of treatment, in accordance with Article 273 of the Code on the Health of the People, is considered medical confidentiality and cannot be disclosed,” the institution stated in response to the editorial request.
Thus, 84-year-old Sara Nazarbayeva spent 10 months in the clinic.
