In Somalia, all passengers survived after the emergency landing of a plane in the ocean

An emergency incident occurred in Somalia involving a Starsky Aviation aircraft, resulting in the survival of 55 people, including 50 passengers and 5 crew members. This was reported by Kazinform, citing information from the BBC.

The pilot, demonstrating calmness and promptness, managed to land the plane on the coast near Mogadishu airport, which helped avoid casualties.

According to the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, the incident happened on Tuesday morning when the crew of the Fokker 50 aircraft detected a technical problem immediately after takeoff and requested an emergency return. Ahmed Makalin Hasan, the head of the authority, reported that during landing, the plane could not stop on the runway and rolled off it, landing near the shores of the Indian Ocean.

Videos have appeared on social media showing passengers leaving the plane and making their way to shore by water. Rescue operations were organized with the participation of medical personnel, UN representatives, and the African Union mission. Preliminary information indicates that no serious injuries have been recorded.

“We confirm that all passengers and crew members are safe. An investigation is currently underway to determine the causes of the technical malfunction that led to the emergency landing,” commented airline representative Hasan Mohamed Aden.
