In Almaty, up to 17 centimeters of snow fell within a day, and the precipitation continues, reported the city administration.
To address the aftermath of the snowfall, 75 crews were deployed, consisting of 2,710 road workers and 1,225 units of equipment. Since 1:00 AM, 26 columns have been clearing the snow, working under the supervision of patrol crews. Starting at 2:00 AM, smaller machinery began clearing sidewalks and public spaces. Workers are removing snow from bus stops, overpasses, staircases, and ramps.
“Round-the-clock monitoring of the situation is ongoing. All work continues without interruption until the snowfall is completely over and weather conditions improve,” the city administration reported.
Currently, there is no information on the number of traffic accidents related to the snowfall. On the morning of February 25, an Informburo correspondent witnessed a car skidding. A vehicle moving along Al-Farabi Avenue near Esentai Mall was thrown into a ditch, but there were no injuries.
According to meteorologists' forecasts, precipitation will continue throughout the day. On February 25, temperatures are expected to range from 0 to +2 degrees during the day, while at night it will drop to -4...-6 degrees.
