According to the weather forecast, February in Kazakhstan is expected to be warm, with a moderate amount of precipitation, reports "Kazhydromet".
In most parts of the republic, air temperatures are expected to be 1-2° above the climatic norm, while in the southeastern part of the country, they will be within the norm. Precipitation, according to forecasts, will be around the climatic norm in most areas; however, in the northwestern regions, as well as in the mountainous and foothill areas of the south, southeast, and east of the country, their amount will exceed the norm.
Nevertheless, at the beginning of the month, in the western and northwestern regions, such as Aktobe region, a drop in temperature at night is expected to reach -23 to -28 °C, and during the day to -15 to -23 °C. By the end of the first decade, a weakening of the frost is expected: at night the temperature will be -10 to -20 °C, and during the day – 0 to 8 °C.
In the northern, eastern, and central regions, a brief increase in temperature will be observed during the first decade of February, reaching -2 to -10 °C at night, and -4 to +1 °C during the day. At the end of the decade, a new cold snap is expected: at night down to -18 to -28 °C, and during the day down to -13 to -20 °C.
In the southwest, south, and southeast of the country, temperatures will fluctuate from -5 to +5 °C at night to -3 to -11 °C (in the northern part of Kyzylorda region down to -18 °C), while during the day an increase to +8 to +17 °C is expected, after which the temperature will drop again to 0 to +8 °C.
Overall, in February, the coldest days in the west, north, east, and center of the country are forecasted for the first and second decades: at night, temperatures may drop to -21 to -30 °C, in the mountains of the east down to -35 °C, and during the day – to -13 to -20 °C. In the middle of the first decade (in the west of the country – at the beginning) and on certain days of the second and third decades, temperatures may rise, leading to thaws.
In southern Kazakhstan, throughout February, temperatures will vary at night from -5 to +5 °C to -3 to -15 °C, and during the day – from 0 to +10 °C to +8 to +17 °C.
In the north of the republic, precipitation will mainly be in the form of snow, while in the southwest and southern parts of the country, meteorologists forecast rain and wet snow. Fog, ice, and increased wind are also expected, with blizzards in the northern regions.
