From January 27 to 29, significant snowfall is expected in certain areas of the country. According to meteorologists, the most critical situation may arise on January 28 and during the night of January 29.

Experts noted that the likelihood of avalanches is increasing:

- on the highway Dushanbe – Chanak (48–74 km);

- in the areas of Maikhura and Zideh in the Varzob district;

- in the mountainous areas under republican jurisdiction;

- in the sections of Manem, Vuzh, Tangiv, and Bidur in the Shugnan district of GBAO.

In this regard, citizens are advised to avoid trips to mountainous and avalanche-prone areas unless absolutely necessary.

Responsible authorities in the field of road traffic and transport are instructed to take additional measures to ensure safety.

Earlier, the Agency for Hydrometeorology of Tajikistan reported that January 2026 is expected to be relatively warm in most regions. According to forecasts, the average monthly temperature will be 1–2 degrees above normal values, and the amount of precipitation will generally be close to normal or below in some places. In mountainous areas, sharp temperature fluctuations are possible.
