In Tajikistan, information about negotiations with the CSTO regarding the Tajik-Afghan border has been denied

The ministry noted that such false reports could mislead the international community.

The authorities of Tajikistan emphasized that they are constantly taking the necessary measures to reliably secure the state border.

“The situation at the border remains stable and is under the full control of the competent authorities,” the statement added.

On the evening of December 2, Reuters, citing anonymous sources in the security forces, reported on possible negotiations between Tajikistan and Russia, along with a Moscow-supported regional military group, regarding the deployment of troops to control the unstable border with Afghanistan.

This information was subsequently picked up by other media.

After the denial from the Tajik Foreign Ministry, the Reuters agency removed the article. The message stated that the material was withdrawn “after a review which showed insufficient evidence.”

Recently, as a result of two attacks from the territory of Afghanistan on Tajik border areas, 5 Chinese citizens were killed, and another 5 were injured. Tajikistan sharply condemned these attacks and demanded that the "Taliban" take measures to detain those responsible.

Tajikistan's Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin held telephone negotiations with the head of the "Taliban" Foreign Ministry, Amir Khan Muttaqi.

Afghan authorities expressed their readiness to conduct a joint investigation into the incidents and enhance security at the border. Muttaqi condemned the killing of Chinese citizens in Tajikistan and noted that the attacks were carried out by groups seeking to “create instability and distrust between the countries of the region.”

Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy in Dushanbe urged its citizens to leave the border areas of Tajikistan and Afghanistan and demanded that Tajik authorities take necessary measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and companies.
