The agency emphasized that the information about the mutual recognition of diplomas from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan is inaccurate, and at the moment, no such international agreement exists.
Moreover, officials noted that in the countries of the region, the recognition of diplomas obtained outside their territory is carried out in accordance with the rules established by the national laws of each republic.
In particular, in Uzbekistan, this process is regulated by the law "On Education" and the government resolution dated July 24, 2019, concerning the procedure for recognizing educational documents obtained abroad.
“This resolution defines the categories of educational documents issued by foreign states that can be automatically recognized in Uzbekistan,” the agency's message states.
It is worth noting that last week, media reported that the Cabinet of Ministers of Kazakhstan approved an intergovernmental agreement on the recognition of diplomas issued in Central Asia within these countries. This was reported by sources.
The documents from the Kazakh government indicated that all participants in the agreement recognize the diplomas of higher educational institutions accredited in one of the five Central Asian republics and operating legally.
However, a clarification was made: Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan agree to recognize diplomas from any universities, while Kazakhstan limits recognition to documents only from institutions that are in the top 1000 of global rankings.
Shortly after this, the authorities of Kyrgyzstan reported that the issue of diploma recognition is under consideration, but the agreement has not yet passed all the necessary domestic procedures for approval.
