Central Asian countries agreed on mutual recognition of higher education diplomas

On November 12, 2025, the government of Kazakhstan approved an agreement on mutual recognition of higher education diplomas with the governments of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, as reported by Zakon.kz.

According to this agreement, documents confirming the completion of higher education institutions (diplomas) issued by accredited educational institutions of the participating countries will be recognized.

It is important to note that refusal to recognize a diploma is possible only in cases where there is evidence of significant differences in the requirements of the higher education system.
Kazakhstan will accept diplomas issued by universities that are in the top 1000 of global rankings, such as Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings (QS), Times Higher Education (THE), and Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). This will allow their holders to engage in professional activities, undergo internships, and continue their studies in accordance with the fields of study specified in the diplomas.
