During his working visit to the United Kingdom, Mongolia's Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Damdinnyam Gongor met with Julia Ann Hoggett, the CEO of the London Stock Exchange. The discussion focused on supporting the registration of Mongolian companies on the exchange, methods of attracting investments, and expanding the capabilities of the Mongolian exchange in the mining sector with the introduction of new financial instruments. The minister reported this on his Facebook page.
Additionally, an agreement was reached to implement a stock market mechanism for transferring shares in mining projects to citizens through the Wealth Fund, which will help enhance their financial literacy and explore opportunities for cooperation in electronic trading platforms.
The London Stock Exchange, founded in 1801, is one of the largest in the world. It features over 1,000 companies from more than 60 countries, with a total market capitalization exceeding $6 trillion, of which the mining sector accounts for about $700 billion.
The entry of Mongolian companies onto the London Stock Exchange will create opportunities to attract billions of dollars in investments for the development of new deposits, enhance the international status of Mongolian projects, and open new financial horizons for the industry and the people of Mongolia.
