
The number of charging stations for electric vehicles in China continues to grow at an incredible pace. As reported by Kazinform, citing information from Xinhua, by the end of February 2026, the total number of charging installations reached 21.01 million, which is an increase of 47.8% compared to the same period last year. This data was announced on Saturday by the National Energy Administration of China.
Of the total number of charging stations, 4.834 million are public charging facilities, which is an increase of 28.8% compared to last year.
Private charging installations account for 16.176 million, marking a 54.6% year-on-year growth, highlighting the high demand for such devices in cities and towns.
According to information provided by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in 2025, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in the country increased to 16.626 million and 16.49 million units, respectively, representing a year-on-year growth of 29% and 28.2%.
In October 2025, China announced a three-year plan to improve the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, which aims to create a nationwide network of 28 million charging stations with a total capacity of over 300 million kW by the end of 2027.
