During geological exploration, the presence of 9.66–9.7 million tons of rare earth element oxides was established, leading to a 300% increase in the region's reserves, resulting in a total of nearly 10.4 million tons of proven resources. This deposit ranks second in the world after Bayan Obo, located in Inner Mongolia.
In addition to rare earth metals, significant reserves of fluorite have also been found in Maonyupin — from 27.1 to 27.14 million tons, as well as barite — from 37.2 to 37.23 million tons. Fluorite is the primary source of fluorine for industry, while barite is used in the oil industry.
China currently holds a leading position in the global rare earth metal market, accounting for approximately 70% of world supplies and about 90% of the processing of these resources.
