According to The Washington Post, Pete Hegseth has fired General David Hodne, who led the U.S. Army's Training and Doctrine Command, as well as Major General William Green Jr., the Chief of Army Chaplains.

Prior to this decision, the Secretary of Defense removed General Randy George from his position as Chief of Staff of the Army. CBS News reports that Pete Hegseth plans to appoint a new person to this position who will align with President Donald Trump's vision for the Army.

As WP reports, since Pete Hegseth's appointment as Secretary of Defense in January 2025, there has been almost a complete reorganization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Only two members remain: Marine Corps Commandant General Eric Smith and Space Force Chief General Bradley Chance Saltzman.
