China has launched an investigation into two high-ranking generals

Zhang Yuxia, Liu Zhenli
An investigation has been launched in China regarding two high-profile military officials.

According to official information from the Ministry of National Defense, under suspicion are Zhang Yuxia, a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, as well as Liu Zhenli, a member of the Central Military Commission and Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff. Both are suspected of "serious violations of discipline and law."

Zhang Yuxia, who is 75 years old, is considered one of the key figures in Chinese military leadership and one of the few active generals with real combat experience, having participated in the Sino-Vietnamese War of 1979 and the Battle of Laoshan in 1984.

Liu Zhenli, at the age of 61, is also a war veteran and was the youngest general of the PLA at the highest level before he took over the Joint Staff Department in 2022.
