According to the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, the detention of the head of the state institution "Chui Basin Water Resources Management" is related to an investigation into corrupt activities associated with the capital repair of the "Petropavlovsky" canal, which is located in the Jayil district of the Chui region.
During the investigation, violations of urban planning regulations and cases of misappropriation of budget funds were identified, occurring during the period from 2022 to 2024. As a result of such actions, the state suffered damages amounting to 12 million soms.
The detainee is R.M.O., born in 1965, who held the position of head of the State Institution "Chui Basin Water Resources Management" and previously served as the acting director of the Water Resources Service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry. He is currently in the temporary detention facility of the GKNB.
Investigative activities are ongoing, and law enforcement agencies are identifying other possible participants in the corrupt activities.
