In the Batken Region, the Shahimardan Irrigation System is being modernized

On December 11, a ceremony for the laying of a "time capsule" will take place at the main water intake facility of the Mukhtar Nurgaziev Canal in the Kadamjay District of the Batken Region. This is reported by the Ministry of Agriculture.
 
This event will mark the start of the project to modernize the Shahimardan irrigation system, which is of great importance for the agricultural sector of the region.
 
High-ranking officials will participate in the ceremony, including Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing, as well as Almaz Dzheenaliev, Deputy Minister and Director of the Water Resources Service. The presence of Aybek Shamenov, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Batken Region, Hugh Riddell, the World Bank representative in Kyrgyzstan, and Ulanbek Torogeldiev, the project manager, is also expected. Additionally, heads of regional and district water services, as well as representatives of contracting and consulting organizations, will join the event.
 
A total of 425.5 million soms has been allocated for the modernization of the irrigation system. The work will cover two rural municipalities and a city in the Kadamjay District. Out of a total length of 35.2 kilometers of canals, 25.67 kilometers will be completely reconstructed.
