As the New Year holidays approach, there is an active spread of fraudulent links on social networks and messengers, disguised as greetings, giveaways, and gifts. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the agency's information, criminals send messages promising cash prizes, bonuses, or gifts on behalf of government institutions, banks, or celebrities.

“When users click on such links, they are asked to provide personal data, bank card details, or confirmation codes. This information can be used for stealing money and hacking accounts. The Ministry of Internal Affairs strongly recommends that citizens exercise caution, refrain from clicking on suspicious links, and not share personal information, even if the message looks like an official greeting or comes from an acquaintance,” the statement says.

If you have fallen victim to fraud or suspect a leak of personal data, immediately contact the internal affairs authorities at the number 102.
