The detention was carried out at the request of Interpol
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported the detention in the USA of a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, known by the initials Ы.М., who was on international wanted list.
This detention became possible due to the "red notice" issued by Interpol in 2023 based on charges of large-scale fraud.
The investigation claims that the detainee, in collaboration with a high-ranking manager of an oil refinery, organized the embezzlement of more than 1500 tons of fuel oil. The damage from the criminal scheme is estimated at 51.78 million soms.
The MIA emphasized that the successful completion of the operation was the result of effective cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Kyrgyzstan and the USA in the fight against transnational crime.
Currently, issues regarding the extradition of the detainee are being considered.
