A citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ы.М., born in 1979, was detained in Illinois, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The detention was the result of joint operations conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Since 2023, Ы.М. had been on international wanted list through Interpol, initiated by a "red notice" in connection with a crime falling under Article 209 "Fraud in especially large amounts" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to preliminary data, Ы.М. together with A.Ч., who held a high position in one of the companies selling petroleum products, organized the theft of heating fuel. The total amount stolen was 1536.51 tons, estimated at 51,780,387 soms.
Currently, Kyrgyz authorities are addressing the issue of extraditing the detainee for criminal prosecution.
Additionally, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that there are another 8 citizens in HSI (ICE) detention centers wanted for various crimes who are undergoing deportation procedures. Of these, three have already been deported to Kyrgyzstan.
