Mass protests have erupted in Minneapolis following a tragic incident that occurred during an anti-immigration raid, during which a woman was killed.
According to preliminary reports, 37-year-old Rene Nicole Good was shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer while sitting in her car. In response, several thousand residents took to the streets, participating in a mourning event and protesting against ICE's actions. The location of the incident is symbolic — George Floyd was killed nearby in 2020, which sparked global protests and the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement.

There are several versions of what happened. U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Good attempted to run over an ICE agent, which prompted him to open fire.

When Trump was shown video from another angle, which did not show any attempt to run over, he commented, "It's a terrible picture. I can't watch it with pleasure."

On his platform Truth Social, Trump noted that the officer's actions were a reaction to a threat to his life.

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen claimed at a press conference that the woman "was pursuing" the agents, and that the shooter used his skills to protect himself and his colleagues.

However, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called these statements "absurd," asserting that the ICE officer acted recklessly, leading to the death of a person. He also called for ICE to leave the city.

According to The New York Times, this is already the ninth instance since September in which ICE agents have used firearms against individuals in vehicles.

It is worth noting that an ICE officer shot a Minneapolis resident during a raid on illegal immigrants.
