Kyrgyzstani Medet Dzhaparov won the World Chess Championship


Medet Dzhaparov, a chess player from Karakol, has won the title of World Champion among amateurs, taking first place at the FIDE tournament held in the Serbian resort town of Vrnjačka Banja.

In the "under 1700" category, a competition unfolded among 60 participants. Dzhaparov demonstrated an outstanding performance over 9 rounds, scoring 8 points and confidently outpacing his opponents.

Passionate about chess since childhood, Medet also teaches children at the youth sports school in Karakol. This is his third World Championship: previously he took third and second places, and now he has "collected the full set" of medals.

Dzhaparov intends to continue his career, setting a goal to reach a 2000 Elo rating and obtain the title of Candidate Master from FIDE.
