A Kyrgyzstani took first place at the FIDE World Chess Championship

Medet Japarov, representing Karakol, won the FIDE World Championship for amateurs held in the Serbian resort town of Vrnjačka Banja. This was reported by 24.kg.

According to Japarov, in his category, which includes players with a rating of up to 1700, there were 60 participants. The tournament consisted of 9 rounds, in which he scored 8 points.

Medet has been familiar with chess since childhood and now teaches this sport at the children's youth sports school in Karakol. This is already his third FIDE World Championship.


At these competitions, I managed to take all possible positions: third place a few years ago, second last year, and now first. I have collected a complete set of prizes!

In the future, he plans to reach a new level, aiming for a rating of 2000 Elo and to become a candidate master according to FIDE.
