At the recent World Sambo Championship, the Kyrgyzstan national team took third place in the overall team standings. This information was provided by the International Sambo Federation.

The athletes of our team won two gold medals, one silver, and two bronze medals. The first place in the team standings was taken by the sambists from Russia, who competed under a neutral status, while the second place went to the team from Kazakhstan.
The gold medals of the World Championship were awarded to Daniil Asekov and Bekbolot Toktogonov, while the silver went to Elkhan Orozaliyev. The bronze medals were won by Usun kyzy Akak and Meerimai Nuradilova.

“The recent World Championship in Bishkek demonstrated significant growth and versatility of sambo on the international stage. We see how traditional sambo schools are strengthening and how new countries are starting to actively participate in competitions. The progress in Paralympic sambo is particularly encouraging: the successful performances of blind athletes from Iran, Mongolia, and Moldova, who became world champions, confirm that sambo is accessible to everyone,” noted the President of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS), Vasily Shestakov, at the closing ceremony.

For reference, from November 7 to 9, the capital hosted the World Sambo Championship, where competitions were held in three disciplines: sport sambo, combat sambo, and sambo for the visually impaired in the SVI-1 class. A total of 31 sets of medals were contested.
