Kyrgyzstan's Nurzat Nurtayeva became the world champion in wrestling in Serbia

In the city of Novi Sad (Serbia), the youth world championship in wrestling is taking place, where Kyrgyzstani Nurzat Nurtayeva won a gold medal.

According to the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nurtayeva competed in the category up to 72 kg, starting her competition from the round of 16.

In the final, she faced American athlete Jasmine Dolores Robinson, who is the 2024 world champion among wrestlers under 20 years old.

Nurtayeva started the first period successfully, leading with a score of 1:0, but in the second period, she lost to her opponent 3:10. Nevertheless, demonstrating incredible willpower, she managed to make a comeback and won with a final score of 11:10, becoming the world champion.

Thus, Nurzat Nurtayeva made history by becoming the second Kyrgyz female wrestler to win the title of world champion among athletes under 23 years old. The first was Aiperi Medet kyzy in 2021.
