Reference information: A phonograph is a mechanical device for recording and reproducing sound that was popular in the first half of the 20th century. It plays sound from gramophone records using a needle and sound pickup, without the need for electricity, as it operates on a mechanical drive with a spring.

Phonographs appeared in the late 19th century and quickly gained popularity due to their simplicity and portability. In the USSR, including the Kyrgyz SSR, they began to be used in the 1920s and 1930s for listening to music and educational programs. These devices played an important role in cultural life and daily life, especially in conditions where there was limited access to electrical means of communication and recording.
