Akylbek Zhapаров was awarded the title of honorary academician and became a member of the AAS presidium. Participants regarded his election as a confirmation of international recognition of his contribution to the development of science, the economy, and interregional cooperation, as well as the strengthening role of Kyrgyzstan in the new intellectual architecture of Asia.
Among the honorary academicians are outstanding scholars such as Nobel Prize-winning physicist Professor Takaaki Kajita, one of the most cited scientists in Asia Atta-ur-Rahman, President of the Russian and International Academies of Sciences Boris Gusev, and Kazakh writer and public figure Olzhas Suleimenov.
Kanatbek Aziz was also elected as the vice-president of the Asian Academy of Sciences, alongside colleagues from China, Russia, Pakistan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan, who also received vice-presidential positions.
AAS is positioned as a new intellectual platform that brings together leading scholars, thinkers, and statesmen from the region to address pressing issues—from technological progress to humanitarian interaction. More than 200 delegates participated in the academy's general assembly. The election of Kyrgyz scholars opens new horizons for scientific collaboration, training of personnel, and participation in international projects.
