As reported by Turmush, a vehicle carrying specialists heading to polling station No. 3206 in the remote Ak-Shiyrak zone of the Jeti-Oguz district got stuck in ice while crossing the Kara-Say River on the night of November 29.
According to eyewitnesses, the car fell into an icy trap while crossing the river. A vehicle following behind arrived in time to help. After about an hour, the transport was freed, after which the specialists continued their journey to their destination.
Despite the inaccessibility and harsh weather conditions, voting at remote polling stations continues. In electoral district No. 28, polling stations in the high-altitude Syrt zone, including Kara-Say, Uch-Koshkon, and Bedel, are open.
Who is voting in Ak-Shiyrak and the Syrt zone?
In these high-altitude settlements, the following are casting their votes:
- residents of the villages of Ak-Shiyrak and Uch-Koshkon;
- military personnel from the Kara-Say border post;
- employees of the gold mining company at the Kumtor mine, who are on a 15-day shift (approximately 1,800 workers in total).
The polling stations are located at an altitude of about 3,500 meters above sea level, 280 km from the administrative center of the Jeti-Oguz district. Despite the frost and inaccessibility, the highland residents are actively fulfilling their civic duty.
In the Syrt zone, polling stations No. 3204 (Uch-Koshkon), No. 3206 (Kara-Say), and No. 9301 (Kumtor) are open.
According to the latest data, 219 voters are registered at polling station No. 3204. According to the precinct commission, 65 people have voted so far, including 4 who voted remotely. Voting is proceeding as scheduled.
At polling station No. 3204, 69 voters have cast their ballots, and at polling station No. 3206, 19 voters have voted.
