In Tash-Kumyr, located in the Jalal-Abad region, a significant update of the municipal vehicle fleet has taken place: more than 10 units of specialized equipment were transferred to local municipal enterprises. This was reported by Mayor Kelsinbek Bektemirov.

“This is the first update of the fleet in the last two decades,” he noted.

Representatives of the presidential envoy in the Jalal-Abad region and local residents attended the event dedicated to the transfer of equipment. “Dozens of units of equipment were transferred for the needs of municipal services. Of these, five vehicles were provided to the water supply enterprise on grant terms. Additionally, two units were purchased for the property department from the city budget, and the football club 'Shakhtar' received a new minibus. Furthermore, two vehicles were purchased for the heating supply enterprise using its own funds. Over the past 20 years, the vehicle fleet has hardly changed,” Bektemirov added.

The head of the city reported that next year, additional funds are planned to be allocated from the budget to improve the technical base of municipal enterprises.

Azamat Jumashiev, head of the municipal enterprise "Self-Financing Enterprise 'Suu-Charba'," emphasized that the new equipment will significantly improve the quality of services provided. “A project is being implemented in our city to provide the population with clean water with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). As part of the first phase, we have already received the necessary specialized equipment. Construction work will begin next year, during which new reservoirs, pumping stations will be built, and 'smart' meters will be installed. This equipment update will ease the work of our employees and improve services for the population,” he noted.

It should be noted that the water supply system of Tash-Kumyr was built in the 1960s-1970s. After 55 years of operation, the equipment has worn out, and the increase in population has led to a water shortage.

In 2023, a project worth 4 million euros, financed by the EBRD, was approved. Half of this amount is provided as a grant, and the remaining 2 million euros as a loan. Work on the implementation of the first phase of the project has already begun.

According to the plan, by 2027, a complete replacement is expected:

- about 163 km of old water pipes installed back in 1980;

- outdated water meters for modern 'smart' devices;

- installation of two pumping stations and two reservoirs on the banks of the Naryn River.

The updated system will ensure a reliable water supply for more than 21,000 residents of the city.
