“We are talking about buckthorn, which belongs to the Rhamnaceae family. This plant, found in mountainous areas, is a great honey plant. An infusion made from its branches is effectively used for ulcer diseases and gastritis with high acidity. The fruits of buckthorn, black shiny drupes, are harvested from September to November when they are fully ripe, while the bark and branches are collected in late spring.”
Buckthorn berries are often used as a mild laxative for constipation and hemorrhoids, as they act safely and gently.
However, it is important to consider that individual intolerance may be a contraindication for their consumption.
The effect of the berries appears within 8-10 hours and can last for a long time. In hiking conditions, eating buckthorn berries is not recommended, as it may spoil the experience of relaxing in nature.”
