Key recommendations:
- do not go out onto the ice alone and avoid testing the strength of the ice by kicking it;
- under the snow cover, there may be holes, cracks, or openings. If you notice circular cracks, this indicates that the ice may be unsafe;
- if the ice starts to crack and fissures appear, do not panic and do not run; it is best to lie down on the ice and roll to a safe place;
- for safe movement on the ice, its thickness must be at least 5 cm, and for winter fishing — at least 10 cm;
- snowmobiles can move on ice that is at least 12 cm thick, small cars — from 20 to 30 cm, and SUVs — from 30 to 38 cm.
