Recently, in Virunga, the oldest national park in Africa located in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the birth of twins from a rare species of mountain gorillas was reported by BBC News.

This event is of great significance for zoology, as the mountain gorillas inhabiting this region are among the last remaining representatives of this species, which is endangered.
Rangers monitoring the condition of these gorillas discovered the newborn infants. A 22-year-old gorilla named Mafuko was seen embracing her boys, and a preliminary examination showed that the whole family is healthy.

Interestingly, the likelihood of twins being born to mountain gorillas is only about one percent.
