
The Ministry of Natural Resources has announced the start of a large-scale monitoring of the population of Marco Polo sheep and mountain goats in the country.
The counting began in the Issyk-Kul region, covering the districts of Uzengy-Kuush, Ak-Shiyrak, and Ystyq. This work involves both specialists from government agencies and invited experts from abroad.
According to preliminary data, between 450 and 500 Marco Polo sheep have been registered in the Sary-Chelek Eer-Tash Nature Park, while approximately 900 individuals are counted in the State Hunting Reserve operating under the President's Office.
The population counting will continue until December 16.
