According to information provided by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, park employees Soltonbekov Kochorbay and Beyshkeyev Azamat filmed an adult otter that was spotted on the Turuk River, located at the border with Kazakhstan.

The Ministry also noted that during studies conducted from 2023 to 2025 on the rivers Kyzyl-Suu, Chatkal, Tyup, Kokomerin, and Chu, no traces of this species were found. This raised concerns about the possible extinction of the Central Asian river otter in the country. However, the new video confirms the likelihood of otter migration from Kazakhstan.

The Ministry of Natural Resources emphasized the need to continue research on the Turuk River's channel to determine whether the recorded otter is a random migrant or if there is a stable population of this species in the region.
