At a press conference at the "Kabar" agency, the chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan, Muradil Jumadilde uulu, stated that many people previously perceived trade unions primarily as organizations dealing with vouchers. However, their original main goal was to protect workers' rights.
“Nevertheless, the very essence of creating trade unions was to protect the labor rights of workers,” he emphasized.

Jumadilde uulu noted that the Federation of Professional Unions of Kyrgyzstan has lost focus on its core tasks over the past 35 years and instead concentrated on the distribution of power and property. According to him, this problem has persisted for decades.
Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov also mentioned at the beginning of 2023 that trade unions were essentially only engaged in the distribution of property and vouchers, failing to fulfill their key functions.
According to Muradil Jumadilde uulu, the situation began to change with the arrival of new leadership in 2024. In just two years of work, the new leadership is already able to discuss its first achievements.
One of the priority tasks has been to improve the management of the Federation of Trade Unions' property. Currently, this property has been transferred for operational management under lease terms to the Office of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, while the Federation retains the status of the property holder.
This decision became necessary due to the ineffective use of property in previous years, when allocated funds for development were spent improperly. As a result, the Federation's resorts ended up in poor condition.
He also added that there is currently a moratorium in place until January 1, 2028, during which all funds from the Workers' Health Fund are directed exclusively towards the repair and modernization of the resorts. In 2024, the major repairs of the "Ysyk-Ata" and DOS "Ulan" resorts were fully completed, while work on the facilities in "Jeti-Oguz" is still ongoing.
