In Batken, there is a significant shortage of land plots for individual housing construction. Those who can afford to purchase land are able to continue building, while the other residents wait for many years for their turn and often live in the same houses with two or three families.

Local residents claim that the issuance of land plots for housing in the city stopped about 15 years ago. "In our family, there are four sons, and each of us has applied for a land plot, turning to the Batken city hall. The last time we addressed this issue was in 2014-2015, but unfortunately, none of us were allocated land. As a result, we live as four families in one house. Some rent apartments. I also have children, and right now I have no opportunity to build my own house and separate. It would be wonderful if the issue of land allocation could be resolved. We don’t even know where to turn," shared Batken resident Abdumitalib Koshmatov.

The Batken city hall reported that since 2012, local residents have not been provided with land plots for housing construction on urban territory.

Additionally, as part of the state mortgage lending program, more than 12 hectares of transformed land have been allocated in Batken. This initiative is aimed at more efficient use of land resources and creating conditions to provide housing for the population.

At the same time, as the press service of the city hall clarifies, there are currently no free plots in Batken that could be allocated for individual housing construction for citizens waiting in line.

As of today, more than 5,000 people are in the electronic queue for a land plot in Batken.
