A book dedicated to the creation of the iconic feature film "Bakaydyn zhayyty" ("The Sky of My Childhood") has been released in Bishkek, which holds a special place in the history of Kyrgyz cinema. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture.

This documentary work, written by the director's daughter, Aziza Okeeva, covers the entire process of creating the first feature film by Kyrgyz director Tölömüş Okeeva.

The book contains rare archival photographs, unique storyboards, previously unpublished materials, and memories of people who participated in the creation of the film. It provides a detailed account of the difficult creative journey, from the initial idea to the film's premiere.

"The Sky of Our Childhood" is a Soviet film created by Tölömüş Okeeva at the Kyrgyzfilm studio in 1966. The plot centers on a boy who comes to visit his parents at a mountain pasture during summer vacation from the city, where he studies and lives with his older sister. His aging parents, especially his father, dream of keeping their son in the nomadic lifestyle, as the older children have already moved to the city, and no one remains to care for them and continue the traditions of the large patriarchal family.

The film received numerous awards, including international ones. In 1968, the creative team was awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize of Kyrgyzstan in the field of literature and art, with laureates including director and screenwriter T. Okeeva, screenwriter K. Omurkulov, and chief cameraman K. Kydyraliev.

Tölömüş Okeeva was honored with the title of Honored Artist of Kyrgyzstan, as well as an Honorary Diploma at the fourth International Film Festival in Frankfurt am Main in 1969. Additionally, he became a prizewinner at the sixth festival of the Central Asian republics and Kazakhstan in Dushanbe in 1969.

Okeeva's directorial work was awarded a Diploma for Best Debut and a prize from the magazine "IK" in 1969, as well as a diploma from the first Tashkent International Film Festival of Asian and African countries. In 1968, he also received a Special Prize and an award for debut at the All-Union Film Festival in Leningrad (St. Petersburg).
