"After all, there are those like me." Deputy criticized the Consul General in Antalya for not knowing the state language.
However, Ulan Bakasov was dissatisfied with the report. He asked about the number of citizens registered at the General Consulate, as well as the assistance provided to Kyrgyz citizens. Koshonov was unable to provide exact figures, after which Bakasov read the data from the report himself and expressed confusion as to why the consul could not state them.
Then the deputy asked Koshonov if he spoke Kyrgyz. The consul confirmed this, but Bakasov clarified what issues Kyrgyz citizens most often approached them with. Koshonov replied that these were mainly legal issues and assistance in obtaining documents, adding that it would be easier for him to answer questions in Russian.
Frustrated with the consul's responses, Bakasov turned to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeenbek Kulubaev.
“Our general consul in Antalya must be fluent in the Kyrgyz language. There are citizens who, like me, came from the village. How do you communicate with them? Not everyone is from the cities; many come from villages,” he emphasized.
The minister, in turn, noted: “Every diplomat, ambassador, or general consul is required to have a perfect command of the Kyrgyz language. Although some diplomats who grew up in the city do indeed face difficulties, we are working on solving this problem. Overall, since the opening of the general consulate, the situation for our citizens in Antalya has significantly improved. Issues such as 'cargo 200', protection of labor rights, and others are now being resolved on-site,” he added.
After that, the deputy continued to ask questions but remained unsatisfied with the answers.
