At a meeting of the Ecological Council in Bishkek, ecologist and urbanist Dmitry Pereyaslavsky expressed a request for regular publication of data on emissions from the new waste incineration plant located at the sanitary landfill near the residential area of "Altyn-Kazyk".
According to the expert, this facility is situated in a rapidly developing area, which raises concerns among local residents regarding potential dioxin emissions.
“The number of settlements in this area has increased, and we notice that dioxins are indeed being emitted. It is necessary to know exactly how much of this substance the plant emits every day,” he said.
Dmitry Pereyaslavsky added that the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision receives data on emissions only once a day, but this information is not available to the general public.
In response, the Mayor of Bishkek, Aybek Junushaliev, stated that sensors for monitoring emissions would be installed at the plant in the coming days.

The ecologist also emphasized the importance of preserving green spaces and shrubs in the urban environment. The mayor added that municipal services only remove old trees in areas where new roads are being constructed and where there is no dust pollution.
This year, it is planned to plant 3,500 seedlings.
“We will plant shrubs where it is possible and necessary; there are no problems,” he added.
Additionally, the mayor noted that technical water, rather than drinking water, is used for irrigating lawns. As part of a grant project, it is planned to drill another 18 wells.
In response, Dmitry Pereyaslavsky argued that the water from these wells is also suitable for drinking.
