On February 19, the mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, conducted an inspection of construction sites in the city center, located near TSUM and GUM. During the visit, he examined the area where a fountain complex had previously been located.

Discussing the Old Bishkek project, the mayor reported that the municipality had already sent a request to the Ministry of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services of the Kyrgyz Republic to conduct a compliance check of the project with established requirements.

The mayor noted: "We have repeatedly visited this site, held explanatory meetings, and called for the projects to be brought in line with the approved documentation and urban planning standards. However, the work continued."

As a result, the mayor ordered a temporary suspension of construction work on the roofing of the second floor. He also instructed the head of the Main Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of Bishkek to review the sketch and propose changes to comply with urban planning requirements.

It is worth reminding that in December 2025, construction work near TSUM was inspected by Kamchybek Tashiev at the direction of President Sadyr Japarov.

The chairman of the State National Security Committee, after studying the situation on site, ordered the demolition of structures and stops that narrow the roadway, as well as the dismantling of the third floor of the building under construction, since according to the materials provided by the mayor's office and the Ministry of Construction, it was supposed to be a two-story building.
