On Chuy Avenue in the central part of Bishkek, between Shopokov and Abdrakhmanov Streets, large-scale construction of the Old Bishkek project is underway.

Visit of Tashiev

The road closure from Ibraimov Street to Abdrakhmanov Street took place on March 31, with a promise to complete the work within six to eight months. Later, the opening date was announced as December 5. However, by December 19, the road was still closed to traffic.

As December approached and the project became more visually tangible, residents began actively discussing it on social media. Numerous complaints were made regarding the placement of retail outlets, parking spaces, and public transport stops. Additionally, Bishkek residents compared the promised design with the actual one and expressed doubts about the quality of the work being done.

As a result, on December 8, the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev, visited the site, meeting with Mayor Aibek Junushaliev and the head of Tashbolot Holding, Nariman Tyuleev, who is the managing company of the project.

Tashiev instructed the dismantling of structures and stops that narrow the roadway.

Currently, work is ongoing; however, the Old Bishkek management emphasizes that they are not involved in this process.

What about the road opening?

As reported by the GUM to the editorial office of Kaktus.media, work is currently being carried out on the recommended changes to the road infrastructure and building.

At the moment, the dismantling of the third floor on the northeast side is underway, as well as leveling the roadway and pockets on the road.

“The road will be opened before the New Year. On Chuy Avenue, from Abdrakhmanov Street to Shopokov Street, one lane has been added,” project management representatives assured.
