The Deputy Director of the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the Bishkek City Hall, Abdyzhaparkul Janbolotov, commented on the situation with the road near the TSUM, refuting rumors about its narrowing. In an interview with AKIpress, he clarified that the road project had been approved by the relevant department.

According to Janbolotov, he suggested that the designers add a lane 4 meters wide and over 50 meters long for public transport. It was also recommended to create an additional lane for right turns at the intersection of Chui Avenue and Abdrakhmanov Street, which should improve traffic flow. Thus, although the road remains four-lane, a lane for public transport and the possibility of right maneuvers have been added, effectively widening the roadway.

Moreover, he noted that the size of the bus stop has increased from 30 to 55 meters. Janbolotov explained that there is a narrowing between the bus stop and the new lane; however, this is not a problem, as it falls within the norm. "Public transport will perform left maneuvers, and if we had added another lane, it could have led to parking by unscrupulous drivers at the bus stop," he added. A parking space for guests of the shopping center has been organized at the intersection of Chui Avenue and Shopokov Street.

The Deputy Director of the Transport Department also noted that it may visually seem that the road has narrowed. "Today we conducted measurements, and the width of the road was 16.5 meters, while after the expansion it reaches 20 meters. We have maintained 4 lanes, adding one for public transport and one for right maneuvers on Abdrakhmanov," he concluded.
