In Bishkek, passenger safety in public transport is under constant control. The chief engineer of the 2nd bus fleet of the municipal enterprise "Bishkek City Transport," Artur Omurzakov, spoke about this in an interview on Birinchi Radio.
According to him, adherence to the approved traffic scheme is mandatory for the enterprise, and it strictly follows the guidelines of the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure.
“We provide buses according to this scheme and ensure they are adequately supplied on the routes,” explained Omurzakov.
He also noted that all drivers undergo a medical examination annually, and a daily check is conducted before they go on their routes.
“Before departing, the driver consults with the narcological service. A vision check, general health assessment, and blood pressure measurement are conducted. If the driver's blood pressure is elevated, they are removed from duty, provided with necessary medications, and sent to a doctor. Such situations occur, as we are all human,” the engineer shared.
In addition, the enterprise interacts with narcological services on an ongoing basis.
“If a driver does not show up for work due to health reasons or has been released by a narcologist, we make sure to find out the reason. Everything is under control, as in the morning the driver goes to work and transports a large number of passengers. We pay great attention to safety,” emphasized Omurzakov.
The Bishkek City Transport MP added that regular monitoring of driver conditions is an important aspect for ensuring passenger safety and the uninterrupted operation of public transport.
