Great responsibility, small salary. Expert on the shortage of deputy principals in schools
Jumakulova noted that quality educational work in schools should be organized at the proper level. “Unfortunately, the work of the deputy principal for educational work is not adequately compensated. This position requires significant effort and responsibility, and as a result, the service finds itself in a difficult situation. I work in a school and see that in some institutions the work is well organized, where the administration and teachers act as a team, while in others there are no deputy principals, and there is no one to take care of the children's upbringing,” she emphasized.
The expert added that the lack of a team approach to educational activities can negatively affect students' behavior. “In successful schools, there are codes of conduct for teachers and students. When a child becomes familiar with this document and signs it, they realize that their actions could be a violation or a crime. Knowing this, they will be more cautious before doing anything,” believes Baktygul Jumakulova.
It should be noted that on February 16, an incident occurred at school No. 83 between a student and a teacher, which ended with the use of physical force. A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident.
In addition, Kyrgyzstan plans to tighten administrative responsibility for disrespecting teachers and interfering in their professional activities. Currently, a warning or a fine of 10 calculation indicators (1,000 soms) is provided, but it is proposed to increase the fine to 50 calculation indicators (5,000 soms).
Parental responsibility is also being strengthened. In the case of an offense committed by a child under 16 years old, there is currently only a warning, but it is proposed to establish a fine or warning of 100 calculation indicators (10,000 soms).
