The State Penitentiary Service (GPS) has announced a tender for the procurement of beef, scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

According to information posted on the government procurement portal, a sum of 13.3 million soms has been allocated for this purpose. Plans include the purchase of 19 tons of first-category meat, which means the price per kilogram will be 700 soms.

The technical specifications state that the meat must be of high quality, fresh, and free from foreign odors, as well as not containing contaminants, remnants of internal organs, skin, blood clots, and other undesirable elements. The delivery of beef must occur in the form of carcasses, half-carcasses, or quarters with the appropriate stamp and number from the laboratory that conducted the veterinary and sanitary examination.

The deadline for suppliers to submit applications is March 16.

It was previously reported that the GPS had already purchased fish for convicts and detainees at inflated prices, resulting in a loss to the state of 15.9 million soms. In connection with this, a criminal case has been initiated.
