In light of the current events in the Middle East, the UAE government has issued instructions to hotels to extend the stay of guests whose accommodation periods have expired at no additional cost. If you have already been evicted or are expecting eviction, please follow the recommendations below.
- Stay calm and politely assert your right to remain. Clearly explain to the hotel staff that according to the directives of local authorities, you have the right to extend your stay without payment for the duration of the restrictions.
- Do not leave your room voluntarily. Do not pack your belongings or sign any eviction documents until you are offered alternative accommodation and the reasons for eviction are explained to you.
- Request a meeting with the responsible person. Ask for the hotel manager to document your request for an extension of stay in the hotel system.
- If you are being pressured, demand that the police be called. The police contact number is: 999.
- If the hotel insists on your eviction, either call the police yourself or ask the hotel staff to do so to document the situation.
- Do not pay for your stay on your own. Usually, if you pay, the money is not refunded.
- Document the events. Take photos or videos: the hotel name, the reception desk, notifications, correspondence, and bills. Try to note the name of the staff member who is demanding eviction and keep all receipts and documents.
- Immediately contact the embassy or consulate of the Kyrgyz Republic. Specify: the hotel name, its address, your room number, your full name and contact number, the number of accompanying persons (including children and the elderly), as well as the hotel’s demands (eviction, payment, relocation).
- If you have already been evicted, try to stay in the lobby or on the hotel premises until the police arrive or the issue is resolved with hotel management. Urgently contact foreign institutions and provide all necessary information.
