The drainage system problem in the village of Savay will be fully resolved by 2026 — Ministry of Agriculture

The drainage problem in the village of Savay, located in the Kara-Suu district of the Osh region, will be finally resolved by 2026. This was announced by Almaz Zheenaliev, Deputy Minister and Head of the Water Resources Department, at a meeting of the Council of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.

As part of international cooperation, work is already underway in the village of Savay to create a collector-drainage network. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the previously existing problem was successfully resolved thanks to negotiations with the Republic of Uzbekistan. The joint efforts of both countries contributed to the restoration of the water flow.

According to information provided by the authorities of Uzbekistan, 10 kilometers of the collector have been cleared, and three siphons have been restored, which has positively impacted water supply.

Currently, the State Enterprise "Hydrogeology" is actively engaged in the mechanical cleaning of 23.3 kilometers of the collector-drainage network under the jurisdiction of the Kyrgyz Republic. Of these, 11.6 kilometers have already been cleaned, and the remaining 11.7 kilometers are planned to be completed by 2026, according to the established schedule.

The Ministry also noted that solving the irrigation issues in Savay by 2026 will ensure effective irrigation of agricultural lands. This, in turn, will help farmers increase yields and improve the quality of crops, as well as enhance the land's resilience to irrigation.
