Today, March 6, a significant event took place at the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after Gapar Aitiev, attracting a multitude of people. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, characteristic of events where art becomes a means of deep communication.

Visitors ascended the museum stairs, paused in the hall, conversed with one another, and tried to catch the anticipation of the upcoming exhibition. The opening of a large personal exhibition by artist Eldar Aitmatov titled "Trace of Memory" became the center of this vibrant movement. The exhibition explores what remains in our consciousness after experiencing emotions, losses, and years lived, reflecting memory as an indelible trace.

Guests began to fill the exhibition hall on the second floor, including diplomats, artists, curators, public figures, friends of the author, and simply art enthusiasts. The aromas of women's perfumes mingled with the scent of fresh printing ink — a catalog featuring the artist's works was released for the exhibition, which guests studied attentively before shifting their gaze to the paintings, already living their own lives on the walls.

Music from a trendy DJ filled the hall, creating a stylish rhythm for the evening. Electronic melodies set the mood for an encounter with painting, as people exchanged greetings, smiled, and took photographs. Gradually, this anticipation filled the space with a special atmosphere, uniting different people with a common interest in art.

The ceremonial part of the evening began with speeches from guests. Former President of the Kyrgyz Republic Roza Otunbayeva delivered a touching speech, highlighting the importance of memory — both personal and national — and the role of art in preserving it. She emphasized that creativity helps to comprehend experiences and convey personal insights in a universal language accessible to all.

Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov also spoke about the significance of this event for the cultural life of the country, noting that such exhibitions become not only artistic but also social events, reminding us of the values that unite people.

Famous philanthropist Askar Salymbekov also spoke, emphasizing the need to support artists and the importance of such projects for an active cultural process in the city.

Especially touching were the memories shared by Roza Aitmatova, who recounted personal moments from Eldar's childhood, noting his early inclination towards art and his desire to express his feelings through painting.
Many guests recalled the great writer Chinghiz Aitmatov, sharing stories of how their fates intersected with his and how his influence continues to live on in art.

The climax of the evening was the appearance of Eldar Aitmatov himself, who confessed that this exhibition holds special significance for him. Although his works had been exhibited before, this was his first major personal exhibition on his native soil.

The artist dedicated the exhibition to his parents, and his voice carried both gratitude and a hint of sadness.
— I deeply regret that my parents could not see this exhibition, — he said. — My mother would have been the happiest.

He also recalled his father's wisdom:

— My father said that conscience is what makes a person human. I would like to add that it is memory that gives a person conscience.

These words were spoken softly, but an instant calm and attention settled in the hall. They seemed to reflect the main idea of the exhibition — memory as an internal compass connecting the past and the present.

The artist expressed hope that his works would resonate in the hearts of viewers and help each person reflect on their own memories of the traces left by encounters, people, and events.

One of the curators of the exhibition, Shayim Obozova, shared that preparing the project became a true creative journey for the team.

— The process was full of inspiration and even excitement, — she admitted. — The works are very profound and require thoughtful contemplation. We are glad that such significant projects are emerging in the city. We hope that the townspeople will not miss the chance to see this exhibition, which will last until April 19.

The interactive zone turned out to be one of the most attractive parts of the exhibition.
Here, visitors could see the process of creating the artist's paintings on a large screen — from the first lines to the final touches. People stopped to watch how an image formed from the movement of the hand and color.

Nearby was a photo zone, not just decorative, but conceptual, continuing the idea of the exhibition.

Everyone was welcome to leave their reaction to the exhibition on the wall with a marker, creating a collective diary of impressions. Words of gratitude and brief reflections became part of the overall atmosphere and concept of "Trace of Memory," where memory was created not only by the artist but also by the viewers.

Indeed, guests did not merely walk past the paintings. Many stopped, returned to them again, discussed what they saw with friends, or stood alone, comparing the author's images with their own memories.

The exhibition occupied the entire spacious hall on the second floor of the museum. Already on the opening day, it became clear that it would become one of the cultural focal points of this spring.

Here, one can not only see the works of Eldar Aitmatov but also purchase the exhibition catalog, as well as special merchandise inspired by his paintings — magnets, shoppers, t-shirts, and sweatshirts.

Thus, the exhibition extends beyond the museum walls. Its images and mood can be carried into everyday life, through city streets and into personal spaces.

Everyone who left the hall that evening and returned to the city's noise took with them not only impressions of what they had seen but also their own little story of an encounter with art — a quiet but important trace of memory.
