Mukhlisa Kodirberdi kyzy: The art of ebru helps distract from gadgets

Recently, a free master class dedicated to the art of ebru, which is considered an ancient technique of painting on water, took place in Bishkek. The event attracted many people who wanted not only to observe but also to try creating their own patterns. A correspondent from VB.KG attended the master class and spoke with an experienced master.

During the event, the master shared secrets of creating drawings on water and transferring them to paper. For most participants, this was their first experience with ebru, and they noted that the process turned out to be not only captivating but also interesting.

Mukhlisa Kodirberdi kyzy, a master of ebru, has been practicing this art for the last four to five years. She mentioned that she learned from the Turkish master Hikmet Barutçugil, who is known worldwide and included by UNESCO in the list of "Living Human Treasures."

- We invited him from Turkey, and this gave us immense motivation. One of the important qualities needed to learn ebru is patience. Even with the best materials, it will be difficult to master the technique without patience, - she explained.

According to the master, many beginners face difficulties in achieving the desired results at the start of their training.

- At first, it may seem difficult, and the drawings may not turn out well. But if you show patience, everything will definitely improve. I mastered the technique through many trials and errors myself, - added Mukhlisa Kodirberdi kyzy.

She also reported that another visit from master Hikmet Barutçugil to Bishkek is planned for the end of the month.

- If everything goes well, he will come to the capital. This will be a wonderful opportunity for everyone interested in ebru to learn from a world-class master, - she noted.

Furthermore, Mukhlisa Kodirberdi kyzy emphasized that ebru today is used not only as an artistic technique but also as a form of art therapy.

- Nowadays, children spend a lot of time with gadgets. Ebru can distract them from their phones, develop their imagination, and promote relaxation. While painting on water, a person experiences pleasure from the process and finds inner peace, - concluded the master.
