Thousands of people broke their fast outdoors
The traditional iftar program organized by the Kyrgyz-Turkish University 'Manas' once again took place outdoors. This year, the event gathered around 8,000 participants and has been held for five consecutive years, as reported by university representatives.
Among the guests were ministers, diplomats, students, faculty, and local residents.
The campus, named after Chyngyz Aitmatov, was decorated for the celebration: the trees along the street and the area in front of the rectorate sparkled with lights and garlands.
Rector Alpaslan Jeylan and First Vice-Rector Almaz Ibraev welcomed the guests before the iftar began. Later, they, along with the Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations Gulzat Ismatova and the Turkish Ambassador in Bishkek Mekin Mustafa Kemal Okem, visited the food distribution point and treated the event participants.
As part of the iftar program, a diverse cultural program and refreshments were organized for the guests on campus.
There were 12 distribution points on the university grounds, where about 8,000 dinners for iftar were prepared.
After Shakir Bayir, an employee of the Religious Affairs Council at the Turkish Embassy in Bishkek, announced the call to prayer (azan), thousands of people simultaneously began their iftar.
Photo zones were prepared for students and guests, as well as traditional "tish aky" gifts related to Ramadan. Guests were offered a variety of dishes, including the famous Turkish treat "Osmanlı macunu."
Since the beginning of Ramadan, cultural and spiritual events have been held at the 'Manas' University.
The university administration organizes free iftars for students every day, along with various cultural programs and social initiatives aimed at creating an atmosphere of mutual assistance and unity on campus.
